FAITH and Belief

Many people have a vision, a dream, just like you and me, but they did not achieve anything in spite of putting in their best efforts. Why are some successful, while others do not even touch their vision? What makes the difference? Why does success touch some, while leaving others out in the dark?

Certainly not because luck or the Lord favours them, but many times successful people are so, because they are the ones with the strongest faith.

WHAT IS FAITH?

There was a tightrope walker, who was so good that he could walk between two twenty-storey buildings on a tight rope with a balancing pole. Thousands of people would watch him perform his breathtaking feat. After he walked across the building he would have his assistant sit on his shoulder and he would proceed to walk across the building. Everybody was amazed and gave him a thunderous applause. He asked them whether they believed that he could do it again. The crowd said, “Yes, we believe that you can!” After a while he asked the crowd again, “Now, who wants to volunteer to get on my shoulder?” With that the crowd became silent.

There is a difference between Belief and Faith. We can believe in what we see but need not necessarily have faith and confidence in what we see. The crowd believed in the tightrope walker because they saw him perform the feat. But when he asked them, “Who wants to get on my shoulder?” everyone was silent. You see, the crowd had Belief but they did not have Faith.

“Faith can move mountains” so goes the old saying. An unbreakable and unshakeable faith is an important element to transform your vision/dream to reality. Everyone with great achievements had absolute faith that their vision will come true. They know without a doubt that their dreams will be realized. These people don’t waste time swinging between faith and doubt or faith and fear. Their faith is 100%, clear and focused. People with great achievements will only focus on their vision and raise that vision with faith, whatever be their situation at the moment. They know that it is just a matter of time before their vision is realized physically.

We all have heard of stories wherein people have unshakeable faith in GOD and have got what they ask for or pray for. Why is it that it doesn’t work out with us? Because we Believe the stories to be true but don’t have Faith whether it would actually work out for us!

“Believing things that you can see and touch means you don’t believe at all”, said Abraham Lincoln, “but to believe in what you cannot see is a victory and a bless.”

Fear is based on doubt and the lack of faith. When we have faith, we don’t try to rush to that dream before that dream is ready to bear fruit, just as we don’t rush a baby to be born before nine months pass. Faith gives us patience with our visions and dreams.
